- Instead of finding individual replacement properties, billions of dollars are flowing annually into Delaware Statutory Trusts (DSTs). DST programs with an UPREIT option can further address tax and estate planning needs of property owners.
- 1031 exchanges can have infinite life through UPREIT programs, with flexibility to liquidate and control the timing of any taxable event.
- REIT units may be sold up to basis without triggering a tax liability.
- Opportunity Zone funds can also address client needs. We will discuss their use and provide an update on recent legislation.

Albino M. Caporale, Esq.
Albino Caporale is the President and CEO of the Exchange Authority. With over a decade of experience in the 1031 exchange industry, Albino Caporale has built a reputation as a trusted advisor and industry leader, dedicated to helping clients navigate the complexities of tax-deferred exchanges.
A licensed attorney in the state of Connecticut, Albino Caporale holds the prestigious Certified Exchange Specialist (CES) designation from the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA), a designation awarded to professionals who have demonstrated significant expertise and experience in the 1031 exchange process. Albino is currently serving as the President of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators and has served on its Board of Directors since 2020. In this leadership role, he continues to advocate for best practices, regulatory compliance, and the growth of the 1031 exchange industry nationwide.
Albino Caporale earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law, with a concentration in tax law.
Curtis Shoch
Curtis R. Shoch, Senior Vice President with Cantor Fitzgerald is an Advanced Planning Specialist more than 25 years’ experience with both public and private alternative investment products. He is known for his instrumental role in leading the industry to adopt Delaware Statuary Trusts (DSTs) as a viable 1031 replacement property. Previously with Inland Securities as President / National Sales Director, Mr. Shoch worked closely with broker dealer relations, compliance, due diligence and was responsible for leading a sales force of external wholesalers, internal wholesalers, and private capital consultants. In his tenure at Inland, Mr. Shoch had served as First Vice President of the Coastal Region sales team and as an external wholesaler. Prior to Inland, Mr. Shoch served as Assistant Vice President at Wells Real Estate Funds.
He began his career in 1994 with Keogler Investments Advisory Services building and distributing fee-based programs. Curtis graduated from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia with a B.S. in marketing and a concentration in finance. He holds a 24 license with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He will be based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Working at Merrill Lynch in New York, during and after college, I learned investment dynamics. At Fidelity Investments, I was promoted several times and recognized for my success in helping clients. I earned the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 2001 and still have clients that go back that far with me.
In 2010, Keith and I formed Integras Partners to protect our freedom to keep our clients’ best interests paramount. In 2019, I launched Generational Conversations to guide adult children and elder parents through proactive planning for housing, care management, investment continuity, legal strategies and security.
I am a third-generation Rotarian and serve as a director of my local club. I’m a big baseball fan, enjoy music, good meals, the arts, and golf. My wife and I are active volunteers and split our time between New England and Florida. I hope we get a chance to connect soon!
